Wear and Abrasion Resistant Steel

Engineered for the Toughest Environments

Wear-resistant steel, such as SSAB:s Hardox® and NLMK Clabecq’s Quard® are high-strength, wear-resistant steel grades offering a unique blend of strength, hardness, and toughness. These properties deliver optimal wear resistance, making them ideal for the most demanding applications.

Wear- and abrasion-resistant steel is used across various industries where high performance and long service life are critical. Common applications include mining, construction machinery, recycling, and transportation equipment—where components like buckets, blades, truck beds, and wear plates face extreme stress.

Using wear-resistant steel helps companies reduce maintenance costs, extend equipment lifespan, and boost operational efficiency.

Durable Wear-Resistant Steel for Mining and Construction

The hardness, strength, and toughness of wear-resistant steel make it ideal for industrial equipment in the mining and construction sectors—from wear parts for dump trucks and construction machinery to wear plates and components in mining mills.

Proplate supplies wear parts and other components made from wear-resistant steel to leading companies like Metso, Belaz, and Epiroc. We specialize in manufacturing components from Hardox® and other wear-resistant steels. Our services cover oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, drilling, milling, blasting, bending, welding, assembly, and surface treatment for wear-resistant steel components of all types and sizes.

Strategic Location Near World-Class Steel

Hardox®, the world-leading wear-resistant specialty steel, is produced at SSAB’s steel mill adjacent to Proplate’s facility in Oxelösund. Connected by a private gate, this proximity allows world-class steel to flow into our production daily. This offers a clear advantage to our customers by simplifying logistics and shortening delivery times. Additionally, it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by minimizing transport distances and enabling on-site processing of scrap material.
