Armor steel combines exceptional hardness, toughness, and strength to deliver superior protection against penetration and explosions. Protective steel, such as SSAB:s Armox®, is extensively used throughout the defense industry, as well as in armored civilian vehicles and other high-risk applications.
We manufacture armor steel components for defense and other sectors where safety requirements are paramount. Although manufactured from hardened, hot-rolled steel to achieve its robust properties, the material retains excellent machinability. At Proplate, we provide comprehensive manufacturing services for protective steel components, including cutting, machining, bending, and painting.
Faster Delivery of Armored Steel Components
Armox armored steel is produced at SSAB’s steel mill, located adjacent to Proplate’s production facility. This close proximity—with a private gateway between the two sites—minimizes transportation time and, combined with our efficient production processes, results in shorter lead times.
Every component leaving Proplate carries a unique Proplate ID number, ensuring full traceability back to the original plate’s production at the steel mill. Through our customer portal, clients can quickly access the plate certificates associated with the materials used in their components.
Specialists in Cutting Special Steels
Equipped with seven large cutting machines featuring both plasma and oxy-fuel burners, we can process steel plates up to 300 mm thick and 42 meters long. Our capability to cut up to eight components simultaneously ensures faster turnaround times and exceptional precision.
