Mensur Duric
Mensur Duric is one of three Area Managers at Proplate, leading a team of around 30 people. With a long background in both service and industry, and many years of leadership experience, he sees community, safety, and growth as the most important parts of his role.
“I think people should praise each other more often. Too often we only point out what could be improved, but we should also highlight what others are doing really well. That makes a big difference, and that’s the kind of difference I want to make.”
Mensur’s engagement runs deep, both for the work itself and for the people he works with. For him, it’s equally important to deliver results and to make sure everyone feels good along the way.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
“I manage Area 1, which covers cutting, marking, fluxing, grinding, blasting, assembly, and welding. My job is to keep everything running smoothly – ensuring we have the right staffing and that deliveries are on time. We recently went through a reorganization, and I’ve taken on new areas of responsibility and gotten to know more colleagues. It’s been both fun and a great learning experience.”
What made you want to join Proplate?
“That was in 2021. I felt I wanted to try out more workplaces in the industry. When this position came up, it sounded interesting , and I’ve never regretted the decision.”
What’s the best part of your job?
“Number one is the sense of community. Here, people of all ages and backgrounds work together, and we learn so much from each other. I also really appreciate that we get to handle so many different processes – from cutting to the finished product. It’s exciting to follow the whole chain.”
Is there something you’re particularly proud of?
“Yes, one thing I’m very proud of is that we’ve managed to keep such a high level of safety. It means a lot to me that everyone goes home from work healthy and whole. I probably talk about safety a lot – but that’s because it’s so important. And we remind each other all the time, constantly lifting things that could be improved. Everyone feels it’s a shared responsibility, not just the managers’. I think that’s why it works so well.”
What do you enjoy outside of work?
“I spend a lot of time with my family. In the summer we often travel by car through the Balkans. I also used to referee soccer at a high level – that took a lot of time, but now I only do it occasionally. And I really enjoy walking and cooking.”
Tell us a little about your background.
“I came to Sweden from Bosnia at the age of 16 and first lived in Hagfors, Värmland. Since 1994, I’ve been in Oxelösund, where I also went to high school and studied business and administration.”
Why should others consider working at Proplate?
“I’d say it’s a workplace with a strong sense of community and plenty of opportunities to learn. You grow here, both as a person and in your profession. And it’s rewarding to be part of a chain where we deliver a complete product to the customer.”
