Welded straps to Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock
Proplate in Oxelösund is currently preparing its first shipment of welded components to Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock in Germany, the world’s leading manufacturer of harbor cranes. The largest models can lift up to 5,000 tons. Proplate is manufacturing the straps – up to 17 meters long – that will hold the enormous crane structures together.
For many years, Proplate has been a supplier to two of the worldwide Liebherr group of companies, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen and Liebherr-Werk Nenzing, and manufactures the bulk of all straps used in Liebherr’s crawler cranes and mobile cranes.
“We are proud to be able to serve yet another customer in the Liebherr group of companies,” says CEO Max Björk. “We have long had strong partnerships with Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock’s sister companies, and we look forward to a close collaboration with our new customer.”
He underscores that the investment Proplate has made in welding in recent years, one which has resulted in a skill boost as well as greater capacity, has also expanded the company’s market.
“I see our focus on welding as a natural development, because the market is demanding more and more finished components.”
For a year now, Proplate has been certified for welding to EN 1090-1 and ISO 3834-2 standards, and will continue to invest in welding capacity in the coming year.
