FOCUSING ON THE CORE BUSINESS
Proplate has been one of Dynapac’s main suppliers of cut metal plate since 1997. Until recently Dynapac carried out the time-consuming task of preparing the metal plates for assembly – cutting, drilling, welding and painting – itself. Thanks to Proplate Machining, Dynapac can now concentrate on its core business: making the world’s leading construction machinery.
“Dynapac was an early adopter and saw the benefits of machining. Their requirement was a clear indication that spurred us on to invest in Proplate Machining,” says Hans-Åke Andersson, Business Development Manager at Proplate.
Proplate could offer by far the best price, quality and delivery times. Delivery of the first prototypes began in summer 2011. In 2012, Proplate and Dynapac will further intensify their collaboration. Lars Diener is the Strategic Head of Purchasing at Dynapac:
“It’s a smooth process that fits in perfectly with our streamlining of the assembly lines. Our engineers design the parts and deliver the drawings to Proplate, which then handles all product development and delivers the products to us.”
GREAT DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL
“There is tremendous development potential for this type of service,” says Lars. Hans-Åke agrees:
“Demand is increasing. The market is tough and places strict demands on prices and lead times. Letting us take care of the machining brings several interconnecting advantages, such as shorter lead times, a more efficient process and more competitive pricing.”
Furthermore, new aspects have been added to the products which weren’t there to the same extent before, according to Lars:
“The final finish and appearance, for instance. They have to look attractive. These requirements are increasing all the time, and thanks to Proplate we can stay one step ahead in development.”

There are more values in good business than just prices and lead times, says Lars.
“Prices and times are the framework around which we build the business, and Proplate is extremely professional and skilled. But business is more than just money. It’s about being able to build a long-term relationship with the customer and about good communication. Proplate is responsive and understands the requirements we place on our suppliers, our own products and the production process.”
