PROPLATE INVESTING MILLIONS IN EMPLOYEE WELLNESS
Since June, exercise has been part of the job for Proplate employees. This new task can vary between walking, jogging and running. Every Wednesday, everyone as Proplate leaves their machines and computers and spends an hour doing a completely different type of work.
Proplate’s management is striving to very specifically create the conditions for wellness during working hours. One hour of paid exercise is an investment of approximately SEK 2 million per year. All employees also receive exercise clothes so they can perform their new task.
“Getting regular exercise not only helps us have the energy to get more done and feel better physically – it also fosters creative thinking,” says Max Björk, CEO of Proplate. The most recent health survey spelled out for the company in no uncertain terms that many employees don’t get exercise in their day-to-day life. Research shows that exercise is an important ingredient for good health. Proplate CEO Max Björk is confident that this initiative will have positive effects on the company and its employees both in the short and long term.
“It is amazing that your own company encourages you to exercise for real,” says Robin Berg, who works in unloading at Proplate. “Other companies may have a wellness allowance, but our company has gone a step further.”
